good things

I’m one of those super-annoying people who think that the little things in life tend to work out for the better in the end.  Lost your job?  Maybe a better one is coming!  My car breaks down? Totally a lesson to me to slow down and appreciate what’s right here at home.  Giant traffic jam on the way home?  Loved taking a different route home and changing up the scenery.  Yes.  THAT annoying.

I do some kind of giveaway/contest every year around the anniversary of my first website.  I meant to do this back at the beginning of the year, but then my new website took months to get together.  And I wanted to wait until it was done.  And then there were things I wanted to change about it (there still are – it’s a work in progress).  And then facebook changed things (I went from well over 1,000 seeing each image to maybe 300 if I’m lucky), and I wanted to do a week of perfectly timed posts to build my readership so that I could get a bunch of views for the giveaway.  And then I got busy editing.  And then a volcano erupted and smothered my home in lava.  Not really on that last one.  But seriously, the list of excuses goes on and on.

And now it’s October.  Oops.  And I had all these plans about how I was going to do this giveaway.  Make you come to my website, and my blog, and leave a facebook comment to enter.  I wanted to get everyone to see the new site, get more facebook interaction and more blog comments and blah blah blah.

But none of that was meant to be.  It all turned out for the better.  Because I want to raise a TON of money for this St. Baldrick’s event next month, and I am so happy to be able to do these fundraisers to raise money for them.  A small army of good people and I are shaving our heads in solidarity with kids with cancer, and we’re raising money for childhood cancer research while we’re at it.

If you would like to help support me and my little business, I would LOVE that.  I know that so many of you have recommended me to others, and I can hardly begin to express my gratitude for that.  If you’d like to support me further, I LOVE it when you leave comments on my blog posts and on facebook images.  If you haven’t done so yet, I would LOVE any feedback on my (relatively) new site.

And now for the fun stuff!  I have 2 offers for you…

1. If your hair is at least six inches long, and you join us in shaving our heads on November 24th to raise money for children’s cancer research, raising at least $300 through St. Baldrick’s, you’ll receive a free session with a $300 print credit!  Wahoo!!!  (this is limited to the first 3 people who sign up).  Session will take place in 2013 in Central Ohio.  Please email me at to get started!

2. I have been asked time and time again to do holiday card mini sessions.  And while this is something that I don’t feel especially drawn to, I am happy to do it for charity!  So, November 9th I will set up holiday card mini sessions.  The location is yet to be decided (definitely Central Ohio), and will depend on the weather.  Sessions will be 15 minutes long, and can be up to 6 people in an immediate family.  Packages will begin at a $100 donation to St. Baldricks.  Email me at to grab a time slot and get more information on packages.

Now let’s go kick cancer’s ass.  st. baldricks donation(Amazing hair by Hair by Christina)

  1. What a wonderful thing to do! I’ve always thought about doing the session giveaway (a little to vain to shave my head…) but have never actually got around to doing it. So props to you!!
