This was an engagement session! Not what you expected based on that title, I bet. What exactly does one expect with a title like that?
Our session started off at Case Western Reserve, where Jared and Katie met and fell in love. It was so great to hear them reminisce as we tromped around campus. I asked them to tell me about the shenanigans they got into together in college, and they couldn’t think of many. Because, you know, they STUDIED in college, which is, you know, what you’re SUPPOSED to do:)
These two are bright and kind and wonderful. Katie loves to laugh, and Jared makes her laugh. You’ll see what I mean. It’s a beautiful thing.
So, we’re taking these beautiful pictures at sunset, and Jared and Katie are all cozy and happy. When out of nowhere, this guy runs by. And then a bunch of police run by right after him. The guy is super fast, and runs halfway around the lake, where he is taken down and handcuffed. In the rush, one of the officers dropped his keys, and Jared was kind enough to make sure he got them back. When we saw the officers were going to be coming up from the lake not far from where we watched the whole thing go down, I did what any well-meaning photographer would do, and told them to hurry up and stand over there so i could get a shot with all the action in the background. And when they didn’t move fast enough, I pushed them. And that’s how this next picture happened. Notice the look on Jared’s face that reads: holy-smokes-and-this-photographer-is-going-to-be-at-our-wedding-what-have-we-done? After the whole thing was over, I turned to them with “Shenanigans!!!” and big high-fives. They might not have been their shenanigans (which is probably a good thing), but that’s one fantastic story to tell your grandkids one day. Ice cream at the end topped off a wonderful night! So excited for their wedding day this winter!!!
