mama and baby

Mama and baby.  Beautiful.  So, so incredibly happy that mama was up for being a part of our session.  When she had a tear while marveling at her new little one, I had to remind myself to keep shooting.  My gut instinct was to give her and baby a hug as I teared up myself.  Many women opt to not be a part of the newborn session.  And I get it.  I do.  We are not feeling our prettiest just after giving birth or welcoming a new one to our family, not to mention the sleep deprivation.  But you know what?  Years from now, when this little man is grown and possibly with kids of his own, he’s going to look back on these and see the most beautiful, loving mother.  He’s going to have a glimpse of where her vast love for him began.  And he’s going to love these.  And so will Mama.  I have been photographing this wonderful family for a while now.  I always love spending time with them.  Their calm and loving,  laid back way of parenting always teaches me.  So excited to watch this new one grow throughout the next year.

  1. Sarah as always thank you for capturing this wonderful time in our lives. These brought a tears to my eyes again. Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I wasn’t feeling great, pretty or fully picture ready but I am glad that I was part of these.

  2. These are so beautiful, mom looks so happy. I read a really good post recently on why its important for moms to be IN the images even if they feel they are not ready. She looks great and I’m sure she’ll treasure these pictures.

    • completely agreed. i have just a few pictures of my parents with me as a baby – they are so rare, and so treasured. i feel like it’s so important for parents to jump in those pictures (including myself with my own kids these days!). thank you for this!
